The structure of the play is built as a flux of continuous scenes, which appear as uninterrupted posts, with humor as the through line. It is up to the viewer, and the reader, to organize or not this fragmented time line, feed, building their own narrative through the snapshots available.
Alguma coisa falta aqui debuted in October of 2025 at the Municipal Theater Domingos Oliveira, at the Gávea Planetarium, directed by Stella Rabello. This publishing of the script enlarges the experience of the play, allowing for the reader to walk through, at their own reading pace, these layers of humor, tension and reflection that echo the central question of the spectacle: after all, what are we missing?
Excerpts
Excerpt 1:
“Two tectonic plates meet and collide, forming a mountain range in the middle of the Asian continent. At its top, one can see a man scaling bit by bit those 8849 meters of altitude with the objective of arriving at some place sufficiently calm and sufficiently empty to finish a task he’s been trying to finish for more than a year.
Two tectonic plates meet and collide, forming a tsunami in the right corner of the Indian Ocean. At the base of the wave, one can see a man diving through each droplet of that infinite aquatic space, searching for something sufficiently weird and sufficiently sickening to store in his memory.
Two tectonic plates meet and don’t collide, forming but a continent.
From within the continent, one can see a woman who spreads her legs, takes a deep and desperate breath and emanates a screaming sound, in the hopes of a choleric new human being, sufficiently small and sufficiently alive, like a morning.”
Excerpt 2:
“Sitting in a rolling chair, a man writes his will. He sits in his chair to finish a text, but his thoughts wander and he decides it is time to write his will. He looks around, searching for his belongings, those that are worth putting in the will. He thinks he would like that the books went to his best friend, he thinks he would like for his writings to be produced by some pretty big producer, he thinks he would like for his television to go back to his sister, for it was a present from her. He thinks. He thinks too much lately. He thinks more than he would like. And thinking hasn’t been easy. It’s just that he’s been crying more than he would like.”
