My body is here

My body is here is a play by Clara Kutner and Julia Spadaccini written from personal ordeals of the disabled actresses and actors that star in the play, made fictional to convey affective and sexual experiences.
The play, now published into a book, with a foreword by Benedita Casé, shows the push and pull between the drives and obstacles faced by the characters in their affective and sexual discoveries, talking openly about these experiences onstage.
Cultural and historical discourses about the sexuality of those disabled are questioned with humor, but also without letting the urgency and importance of the subject become merely supporting characters. The result, in the end, is a connection between the scenes and the public, showing the similarities that exist amongst all of us, souls existing in different bodies.

About the authors
Clara Kutner is a director and playwright, working in audio-visual, theater and dance. She directed successful works, such as Tapas e Beijos and Um Lugar ao Sol (Globo Network), and Pedaço de Mim, a series that became an international hit on Netflix. Regarding theater, besides the award-winning Meu corpo está aqui, she has directed shows such as Alcubierre, Horses Hotel and Passarinho. She is the creator of Projeto SOM, a reference in dance, deaf art and technology.

Julia Spadaccini is a playwright and screenwriter. Author of twenty plays staged around Brazil. She was the screenwriter of the shows Tapas e Beijos, Chacrinha and Amorteamo, and the creator of the series Segunda Chamada. As an author, she was the winner of the prizes Shell, ABRA, APTR, FITA and Bibi Ferreira.

About the collection
The Dramaturgy Collection publishes, since 2012, works from Brazilian and international playwrights. The books incite the debate and the development of a collective theatrical memory of our time, marking a new register in contemporary dramaturgy.
