In a dystopian future, survival of the fittest rules human relationships. On stage, we watch the conflict between the Meyerbeers and the Boumans, the world’s two last white families. They are mortal enemies, carrying a hate that transcendes generations, whose origins no one knows. Amidst this hopeless terror, Lucien Meyerbeer confronts his father to ask Angélica Bouman’s hand in marriage, thus avoiding the extinction of the white race.

Winner of the importante Dutch theater award Taalunie Toneelschrijfprijs, Alex van
Warmerdam's No canal à esquerda ponders the world where we want to live, through writing simultaneously harsh and cruel, and deep and inspiring. Translated by Giovana Soar, it’s one of the five titles published by the Dramaturgia Holandesa collections, which presents foundational Dutch contemporary theater texts translated by important names of Brazilian theater.
