How to redesign and redefine history? How to create new narratives to talk about the oppressions faced by Black people, pointing towards horizons and free outcomes? It’s with these questions that playwright Jhonny Salaberg dives into the reality of female incarceration to expose, unmask and resignify the story of thousands of women, most of them Black, stuck in our country’s oppressive realities. Parto Pavilhão describes the escape plan of a group of women and their newborn children in a prison amidst the male soccer World Cup semifinals. Exposing oppression, but proposing a new, more dignified and poetic outcome, the author shows his narrative power, his brilliant approach to image creation, reality friction, to exposing our country’s racist existence in theater, staking his claim as one of our foremost contemporary playwrights.
