Paulo Nazareth Contemporary Art Ltd. [2nd edition]

The reference book on the series Notícias de América, a game-changer in the artist’s production, Paulo Nazareth, Arte Contemporânea/LTDA receives a new, revised and expanded edition.
Paulo Nazareth Contemporary Art Ltd.(2nd edition) narrates the artist’s travels from the south of the Americas up to the north, in the United States. Not getting his feet wet throughout the trip, he carries dust for one year, going from Rio Grande to New York, where he washes his feet in the Hudson River before going on to show his work at Art Basel Miami Beach.

A walking, performing, artist, debating racial, national and continental issues that are so pertinent in Brazilian contemporary arts discussions, he faces the challenge sweetly and generously, breaking political, social and linguistic barriers. Encounters, exchanges, discoveries and creations throughout the journey expose not only the process of creating art objects, but also an artist on the move.
This new, bilingual edition features over 170 images and new writing. The volume includes an interview with the artist conducted by Janaina Melo, as well as collaborations by Renato Silva and Matthew Wood, Kiki Mazzucchelli, Maria Angélica Melendi, Hélio Alvarenga Nunes, Walter Chinchilla, Julio Calel, Edgar Calel, Pedro Calel, Helena Braunštajn, Judith Pedroza and Paulo Nazareth.

Excerpt
“My definition of fatherland grows every day... born in Brazil, I’m Latin American, and as a Latin American, I’m also Mexican... I belong to each land my feet have touched... there is no way to divide these lands using an imaginary line called a border... maybe that’s why they built the wall on the north: an attempt to prevent Mexico from continuing to be Mexico inside the United States.” Paulo Nazareth
