The book-word ave preta mística mystical black bird was presented at Projects: Tadáskía, the artist’s first solo show at a museum, in the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and has become part of the institution’s collection. The exhibition inserted Tadáskía in the still small group of Brazilian artists who have shown their work in this American museum. Meanwhile, lua coelho negra moon black rabbit was presented at the 35th São Paulo Biennale, and is currently in the collection of the São Paulo Pinacoteca. Other works by Tadáskía are also featured in important international public collections, such as Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, USA; Kadist Foundation, Paris, France; The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, UA; The Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, USA; and Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen (K21), Düsseldorf, Germany.
About the author
Tadáskía was born in 1993 in Rio de Janeiro, where she lives. Her practices include drawing, writing, painting, sculpting, video, installations, and other media, investigating issues of transformation, self-perception, familiarity and foreignness. The artist won the K21 Global Art Award 2025 and is featured in the 2025 TIME100 Next, as one of the most influent rising stars in the world. Her first solo exhibition in a museum was Projects: Tadáskía, MoMA – The Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA (2024).
