The book Carlos Bevilacqua brings a selection of this artist’s works created over 30 years. With more than a hundred images of sculptures, objects and installations, the publication also presents excerpts from notebooks and drawings made as part of the creative process of the works. The book brings an interview granted by Bevilacqua to the curator and professor of philosophy Luiz Camillo Osorio, in addition to a critical text signed by Paulo Sergio Duarte.
“This book has a principle: to convey the reader the poetic content of the work, Time”, writes the artist in text about his work in the book.
About the artist
Carlos Bevilacqua was born in 1965, in Rio de Janeiro. After studying architecture, he went to New York, where he studied New York Studio School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpting, from 1991 to 1993. He participated in collective exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, such as Rio Hoje, in the Museum of Modern Art of Rio of January - MAM Rio (1989); Home Alone, in the East Village, New York (1993); Carioca sculpture, in the Imperial Palace, in Rio de Janeiro (1994); Contemporary Passport, Museum of Contemporary Art, University of São Paulo - MAC USP (2003); Desire of Form, at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin (2010); and Places of Delirium, at the Rio Art Museum (2017). Among the most recent individuals are Dois (2010); White Ocean (2013); and Let it Go (2015), at Galeria Fortes Vilaça (today, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel), in São Paulo. He won awards, such as the II Itamaraty Contemporary Art Award, in Brasilia (2012). His works include public collections such as Funarte (Rio de Janeiro), Inhotim (Minas Gerais), MAM Rio (Rio de Janeiro) and MAC USP (São Paulo). Currently, Bevilacqua lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.
