Blind Wall shows the paths taken by artist Marcelo Cidade for the production of some of his works. The starting point of Cidade’s work is an intense experience in the urban environment of São Paulo, based on his connection with groups of skaters and graffiti artists. Later, it unfolds into an investigation of the possibilities of making art between the public space of the city and the private (or semi-public) space of galleries and museums.
About the artist
Born in São Paulo, Marcelo Cidade is an artist; he creates sculptures and installations. His work focuses on researching the tension between the public and the private, and the observation of the human behavior from this idea. He held several solo exhibitions, such as: Marcelo Cidade: Subtotal, SP (2017) Nulo ou em Branco, SP (2016); Somewhere, Elsewhere, Anywhere, Nowhere, USA (2014); Marcelo Cidade, Italy (2014); Quase Nada, Brazil (2013), among others; besides participating in the group exhibitions Distorção Inerente, Portugal (2018); Monumento, anti-monumentos, Mexico (2017); Here the border is you, EUA (2018); The Poetry In Between: South-South, South Africa (2015); Landscape: the virtual, the actual, the possible?, USA (2014); and others.
